Portable Stage Basics
A quick guide on what to look for when shopping for a portable stage.
A portable stage is the
perfect item for any occasion or event. It can be used for a band concert,
choir or theater performance, or an assembly. Portable stages come in a variety
of sizes and types, depending on your needs.
There are a couple of
different types of deck surfaces you can choose from. There is the standard
hardboard deck, which is plywood with a hardboard laminate stop and bottom. You
can also choose a polypropylene deck. The polypropylene coating adds a
non-stick plastic surface to the portable stage, it is water-proof and easy to
clean. The polypropylene deck is perfect for any outdoor event. There is also a
carpeted deck, which provides better sound absorption in addition to dressing
up the portable stage.
Portable stages come in many
sizes. It is important to consider the size of the area where you will be
setting up the portable stage as well as the number of people you will need to
accommodate. You will also want to leave room to put steps to get on and off
the stage, and backstage room. As for the height of the stage, you will want to
consider the size of the space, the height of the ceiling if it is inside, and
the size of the performers.
There are a couple
accessories you can get for your portable stage. Steps are a good idea for
portable stages that are eight feet or higher. Guardrails are also a good idea
for preventing accidents, especially if there are small children using the
stage. If a band is performing on the portable stage, you should get a drum
riser for the drum set. Drum risers help decouple the drums from the floor and
the walls, and help with the sound of the drums. Drum risers also give the
drums a much purer sound.
